One down, what's next...

I finished my project for knitting class – a felted bag. When I started the bag, I thought that I would make alternate stripes of pea green and blue. But after a short while, I didn’t want to have keep track of the stripe width for 20 or so inches, so I alternated colors whenever I felt like it. And since I was doubling up on the yarn anyway, for some areas I used one string each of blue and green. I like how it turned out. The pics below show before and after - the loose stretchy knit, joins together in the wash, to make a solid, non-stretchy, fabric of sorts.

I also now know why the cute felted bag I saw at the state fair was $80. The yarn for this bag cost at least $36. So a knitted bag ain’t necessarily cheap. And,after all that work, I think this will have to be somebody’s Christmas gift – I can only take so much with me on the plane, and I’d rather take more yarn for a new project.

I ditched the Jane Hamilton book for a bit so that I could re-read The Golden Compass. It’s probably been at least 6 years since I first read Pullman’s Dark Materials trilogy. I only planned on reading the first book, but now that I started I can’t stop. I’ll be starting book three today or tomorrow. And now that I’ve refreshed my memory, I can go see the show.

Woo hoo! We missed you last night, but I'm really glad you finished your bag. It looks great and I love your before and after photos.
Knit on!

Thanks Cathy. I couldn't find a sitter for the other night, and I briefly thought about bringing him along. But then I came to my senses and stayed home. I will knit on! - My husband is wondering if all the yarn and needles will need their own suitcase by the time we leave.
