I super carefully raked my newly seeded no-mow lawn yesterday. We had lots of cold, wet weather right after it was planted, so its only grown about an inch at most. But I think it'll make it to next season.
Here's my *new* front step. Rich re-did the concrete surround, painted the steps, and added a new post and trim. It looks a million times better than it did before.
EVERYONE was out raking up their yards yesterday. The average number of big-black-plastic-bags at the end of everyone's driveway was 10. 10! And they had the same amount last week as well. I have 10 small bags (saved from my garden mulch). And those are going to be taken to the neighborhood compost area. All the rest was mulched with the mower, and select already-composting leaves were saved in pile in the back yard. Hey - that's the good stuff. I need to generate some soil for this...
Garden boxes. The only place in my yard that gets enough sun is on the side of our garage. But the soil there is compacted and not that fertile. Instead of fighting what is there, we are just going to build up. The wood is cedar from my Dad's old deck. I think he's going to be jealous when he sees how pretty they look as planter boxes.
And what's more appropriate for a Halloween night dinner than miso soup with tofu. I suppose just about anything is more appropriate. But it was cold, and this sounded yummy. (I had a few miso paste packets left from the Bazaar in Odense. If you can, you should get yourself a few. Good luck on the tofu though.)
And here's my focaccia from the bread machine. I love that darn thing!
