Danish humor

...that I finally understand. First off, I freely admit that I still don't quite get daily Danish humor. Like the commercial with the womanly looking man, manly looking woman, cone heads, dorky nerds. I can identify that its *supposed* to be funny, but I still don't get it.

But I did get this. WARNING - this is not the most pleasant of pictures. Being a former dog owner though, I can stomach it.

Around our house, the sidewalks and their borders are currently overflowing with dog poo. Is it the season? Did some new dog just move to town? I don't know. But someone decided that the plethora of dog poo along the border of this one yard deserved a flag for each *visit*, which was no less than 10 within a span of maybe 30 feet.

Anyone who lives in DK knows that people around here just don't pick this stuff up. Is the cost of a plastic bag the problem? Is it considered *natural* and therefore ok to ignore? When I first arrived I was excited by the amount of public green space. However, I now know that that space can be filled with poo, broken glass, and garbage of all sorts.

Ooh maybe it's one of Babs' work LOL I read in her blog that she puts Danish flags on the dog poos she came across to protest to the dog owners for not picking them up.

About Danish humour, I don't get it either. There are numerous times when my boyfriend and I are watching Danish films/cartoons and he was laughing his ass off while I wasn't. I could totelly understand the language, but I just don't get why it was funny :(

LOL, it's not one of mine! I now know of other international women all over DK who are rallying together to do the flag thing with as much of this dog crap as poss.

We won't rest until the idiots who leave their crap along the walkways start acting 'like' responsible adults.

When you have had a toddler in your care fall into a dog turd in DK, and get it all over them, something snaps and you are never the same again.

Re: Danish humor, I get some of it, and think that Klovn is very funny.

Hi there, I'm first time commenter here.

An expat living in the Netherlands did the same thing, with the Dutch flag. It seems like Europeans don't pick up after their dog poos.
