My Denmark...

A bit of boredom is seeping in. The days are getting shorter (already, can you believe it), and the weather is getting wetter (already, can you believe it). This change (and knowing that it only gets worse from now until next May) puts me in a generally blah mood.

My days in DK are pretty much the same. Monday through Thursday (Friday is expat playgroup day) I bike the boy off to bornhave. On the way back I’ll stop off for groceries if we need them – and it always seems like we do. Things mold in the fridge here faster than you can eat them. It’s the high humidity.

Once back at home I just do what I do until I have to bike back to bornhave for the boy. We don’t live near the city center so I don’t have anywhere to really go. And we live in a new place, so my yard is bare (although I did mow it yesterday; with the push mower it took all of ½ hour).

The problem is, I’m used to working. So when I read (or whatever) during the day, I feel guilty; like I should be doing something else. But I don’t know what that something else is.

Within the monotony though, yesterday I had three *variations*…

1. While picking my child up from bornhave, he showed me how high he could climb a little spindle stick of a tree. From above he said he could see the roads and the bornhave rooftop. Nobody says no to these kids; its do what you want until you hurt yourself. Then it’s all your fault, and you’ve learned your lesson. Oh yeah – and you have a broken arm that needs to be treated in Denmark…this means a waiting period for everything including the emergency room visit. How about we just ask the kid to get down, and stay down.

2. My neighbors pimped their ride. This one is boggling my brain. They have a 10-yr-old or so Citroen – your standard 4-door car. It’s a conservative dark blue color, and it belongs to a family of four (mom, dad, daughter, and dog). But now they’ve jacked the back up. It’s just bizarre.

3. We cooked Chinese noodle stir-fry and watched the latest Project Runway episode on You Tube. Finally, something good to watch…lately cable just blows. A viewing of any Bravo show is then followed up by reading eric3000 - my very favorite Bravo blogger. And this way the night ends with a laugh.

To combat the blah and my frustration with bornhave (and my dreading biking all winter in the rain to bornehave), we are going change up the routine a bit. Come mid-September Peter will be starting at a new daycare - a private one this time, forget the Kommune (see my fist in the air here). This change sets off a chain reaction that will disrupt my free-time. I'll have less of it, but I think that will be better for my brain in general.

You could always take a online class! Work on another degree. Library Science is very popular these days :)

Earlier this week registered for Klima 2008, an online conference on climate change. But the main reason I registered for it was to maintain my professional license.

I know you LOVE the degrees, but I just don't want to have to study ever ever ever again.

Haha! Never ever?

A online climate change conference should be fun. You will get to see all sorts of pretty maps!
