Or how about this one on Petrol Pinching. You really can't fault the Danes on this. They love love love a deal. And on top of that - if someone were to go into the shop and say "Hey, you know your pumps are not working properly"...the person that was trying to help would get a shoulder shrug, and most likely a scorned look. Because - you're NOT supposed to tell someone how to do their job. How Rude! The other day a dog ran past us on the bike trail by the freeway. Then a ways down the path I saw the dog's owner (they live behind us). I told her that the dog was waaaaayyyyyyy the other way. And she just looked at me and said - no he's not, he's right around here somewhere. Okay, I was just trying to be helpful lady. I've seen her out walking since then, she WILL NOT look my way.
Then last Friday, when Peter and I were headed out to the beach - a nice hot day, I saw another man and his dog. The poor thing was laying on the sidewalk looking like it was about to die from heat exhaustion. They were not near any homes. I wanted to offer water (I had a whole big jug of it), but in the end I didn't. Why put myself through all that again.
Last night we had jalapeno medisters (sausages). They had a bit of a zip, but honestly our mustard is spicier than these things were. For a sausage topping I sauteed some red onion and Danish cabbage in olive oil and a touch of vinegar - a quick version of kraut.
And for dessert I had some banana bread with butter and jam. I used our family banana bread recipe, except I had to substitute margarine for Crisco. It tastes good, but its a bit more oily than if I had used Crisco. I know - some people ONLY use butter blah blah blah...but Crisco is key to this recipe. It makes a nice, moist, dense bread that's not oily. Disclaimer - this is not a commerical.
