While out in the field yesterday day I saw this and it reminded me of who else but Joy. The sun was shining upon thee :-)

And this reminded me of - you get what you get....

And while out in the field today I was able to swing by the meat locker where our happy pig met his probably somewhat unhappy end. I was pleased to see that this same locker also supplies meat to our higher end grocery stores that like to sell grass fed and organic, local meats.

But on our dinner plates lately has been ground venison. I've made it into spaghetti. I've served it with rice for a Chinese type thing. One night it was a quinoa goulash. Its really really good venison. The 5-yr-old eats it plain with no complaints.

As of yet (and there have been temptations) I've held on to my Danish lifestyle of make-whatever-is-in-the-fridge. Tonight it was ground venison, kale, broccoli, and red pepper with a pesto sauce. Served along side some cheesy potatoes. The spuds are from my mom - they are HUGE, and yummy, and I wanted to use the oven tonight since the house was FREEZING.

Look! Little cukes that we loved in DK. These are from Canada. MN is next door to Canada, but I'm not sure they are "local" since Canada is giant. But if they can grow cukes right now - why can't we Oh Canada?

This past weekend I made some rolls. I had to. The bread at the store - even the *healthy* kind was so sweet I couldn't eat it. I can eat the white baguette stuff easy - but that's like mainlining pure white sugar.

Tomorrow is Friday and I am working - boo hoo. And now to my husband's dismay, I'm off to heat the water bottle.
